Explore Mayo

Winner of the prestigious Irish Times 'Best Place to Live in Ireland' award in 2012, this bustling town offers a slice of rural Irish life, with a contemporary twist.

Indulge in fresh, local food and a pint of Guinness while listening to the sounds of traditional Irish music in the host of pubs and gourmet restaurants a short stroll from Woodbine Cottage.

During your stay, Kathleen and Tom are on hand to offer advice on places to eat, activities and places of interest. Family favourites for a bite to eat include local Artisian dining, An Port Mór, foodies favourite, Sage and the number one lunchtime spot in Westport, The Creel (don't leave without tasting the lemon meringue!). Westport is dotted with pubs none more famous than Matt Molloys, owned by Matt – a Grammy winning member of The Chieftans – who you can often find nursing a pint and bewitching the crowds with this magical music. For an intimate, local pub experience, we recommend Blousers once featured in a Guineess ad and McGings, a hub of upcoming musical talent.

Woodbine Cottage is centrally located close to all amenities including tennis, fishing, walking, cycling, sailing and an 18-hole championship golf course with spectacular scenery.
